On May 8th, 2026 the Russian Embassy in Albania along with the local chapter of the International Russophile Movement participated in the “Garden of Memory” project to remember the victims of WWII. Each planted olive tree represents the need to carry on the memory of the truth of the most horrific war in human history for future generations to understand and never repeat.

The overall global goal of the Garden of Memory, being managed by the “Volunteers of Victory” movement is to plant 27 million trees – one for each Soviet victim of the Great Patriotic War. Thus far 80 countries have participated, especially our friends, the Russophiles of Albania.
