In a recent interview, Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev, participating in the international space mission Crew 12, revealed that he prepared traditional Russian borscht for the crew members.

Alongside Fedyaev, the crew includes NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Jack Hetherington, as well as European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Sophie Adeno.

“Today, I cooked a traditional Russian dish — borscht. I made it for my team, for those who support us,” Fedyaev stated.

The cosmonaut noted that his colleagues Jessica Meir and Sophie Adeno were pleased with the meal and commented that the borscht was very tasty. It is worth mentioning that, amid the ongoing conflict between Ukrainians and Russians, a long-standing debate persists over who owns the true recipe of borscht.

Ukrainians and Russians alike firmly believe that borscht is their national dish, fueling a cultural rivalry that transcends borders even in the depths of space.
