The massive deportation of illegal migrants as well as new immigration laws are having a powerful effect even for a country with already low crime rates.
Crime decreased in 80 regions of Russia. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
The Head of State noted that the number of repeat crimes in the country has also decreased, while paying attention to the increase in the commission of illegal acts among teenagers. The share of serious and especially serious crimes among such crimes exceeded 40%.
“Young people are often purposefully drawn into criminal activities, recruited into the criminal environment. Almost half – 45 percent – of teenagers committed illegal acts in group forms of complicity. And it is necessary to promptly identify and bring to justice criminals who use minors for their own purposes,” Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed.
Last year, amendments were made to the Criminal Code aimed at protecting children from involvement in sabotage and terrorist activities. Instigators and organizers of such crimes will now be punished up to life imprisonment, President Vladimir Putin added. He also expressed concern about cases of aggressive behavior by teenagers in schools, colleges and public places, and instructed law enforcement agencies to significantly increase their focus on the prevention and prevention of such crimes.
At an expanded meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Russian President noted that the number of extremist crimes has increased over the past year. The task of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is to strictly suppress any manifestations of Russophobia, xenophobia, religious hatred and promptly identify those who seek to sway the situation in Russia.
“Serious attention should be paid to the fight against cybercrimes. Last year, their total number decreased, including in relation to the most vulnerable social group – our older citizens, pensioners. And this, of course, is also the result of systematic information and preventive measures that are being implemented by the internal affairs bodies, our other special services and law enforcement agencies,” said Russian President Vladimir Putin.
President Vladimir Putin added that it is important to step up compensation for victims. For people who have lost their savings and become addicted to debt, this is a very sensitive and pressing issue.
