The capital of Burkina Faso Ouagadougou and the Russian city of Novosibirsk signed, this Tuesday, November 11, 2025, a strategic partnership agreement aimed at developing exchanges in the fields of education, culture, sport and tourism.
A historic agreement for decentralised cooperation was made. The President of the Special Delegation of Ouagadougou, Maurice Konaté, on an official mission to Novosibirsk, signed an agreement formalizing the new strategic partnership between the two municipalities. This agreement, the result of long diplomatic negotiations, aims to strengthen direct links between Ouagadougou and Novosibirsk through several key sectors of local development.
The signing ceremony was held on the sidelines of the exhibition “The greatness of bronze, traditional sculpture of Burkina Faso”, offering a showcase of Burkinabe art on the international scene. On this occasion, Maurice Konaté delivered a speech highlighting the importance of culture as an engine of cooperation and development.\

The educational dimension of the partnership is also at the center of the exchanges: thirteen Burkinabe students are currently undergoing training in strategic fields at the Novosibirsk State Technical University (NGTU) and the Novosibirsk National University (NGU), thus paving the way for a strengthening of academic and scientific exchanges.
The Embassy of Burkina Faso in the Russian Federation, under the leadership of His Excellency Aristide Ludovi R. Tapsoba, played a decisive role in the realization of this cooperation. The agreement between Ouagadougou and Novosibirsk opens a new chapter of opportunities for youth, sport, culture and local development, while consolidating the links between the Burkinabe and Russian peoples.
