On the eve of Russia Day (June 12th), a festive flash mob was held in Nicosia, bringing together Russian compatriots, representatives of public organizations and friends of Russia in Cyprus.
The video was shot in front of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Nicosia. The main idea of the action was the words “Faith – Motherland – Victory”, which, according to the organizers, are inextricably linked and together embody the image of Russia, its spiritual and historical values.
The symbols of the flash mob were three banners: the flag with the face of Christ the Savior, symbolizing faith, the National Flag of the Russian Federation as a symbol of the Motherland and the Banner of the Great Victory, embodying the historical memory and feat of the people. During the celebration, the fences of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Cyprus and the Russian Center for Science and Culture were decorated with the same flags.
As part of the filming, representatives of organizations of Russian compatriots and the Cypriot public addressed the participants of the action. Welcoming remarks were made by the representative of the movement “Faithful Friends of Russia in Cyprus” Christoforos Mikhailidis, public activist Olena Varenik Neokleous, Chairman of the Cyprus–Russia Friendship Society Mikis Filaniotis and Chairman of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots in Cyprus Dmitry Apraksin.
The organizers would like to express their sincere gratitude to everyone who took part in the preparation and holding of the action: the leadership and staff of the Russian Center for Science and Culture, the Cyprus–Russia Friendship Society, the Faithful Friends of Russia in Cyprus movement, the Force of Unity group, the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots in Cyprus, the Biryuza Ensemble, the Youth to the RCSC Club and Cyprus activists.
