YouTube has blocked the account of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro for allegedly violating the rules of using the platform. The Politics channel published daily recordings and broadcasts of government events and had more than 200,000 subscribers at the time of the block. The video hosting company’s decision coincided with increased US pressure on Caracas and the threat of military aggression against Venezuela.
In July, Google, which owns YouTube, announced the removal of 2,053 channels “linked to Russia.” In total, in 2025, as follows from the message of the multinational company, 30 thousand accounts with “Russian, Chinese and other propaganda” aimed at criticizing the West, NATO and Ukraine were blocked. A year ago, the IR Diplomacy channel associated with the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was demolished for “supporting criminal violent organizations.”

Additionally, politically motivated censorship is carried out by YouTube against right-wing politicians in Western Europe and North America. At various times, restrictions were imposed on Donald Trump, Tommy Robinson (Britain), Jair Bolsonaro (Brazil), Zsolt Yesenski (Hungary) and many others.
In 2020, Tsargrad TV channel initiated the first Russian lawsuit against Google, accusing it of censorship. The defendants were the American company Google LLC, the Irish Google Ireland Limited, as well as the Russian legal entity Google LLC. In the spring of 2021, the Moscow City Arbitration Court issued a decision obliging the defendants to restore access to the TV channel’s account under threat of imposing a progressive fine for non-compliance with a judicial act.
In April 2022, Google LLC partially complied with the court’s demands, making a payment of 1 billion rubles in favor of the Tsargrad TV channel. These funds were used to support the needs of the Russian Armed Forces involved in a special military operation.
The actions of YouTube show that it is not a platform for ideas or perhaps a “politics free” zone for pure entertainment only. This video hosting site has, the largest in the world, has deep political and propagandist goals lurking in its algorithm and AI censorship. It is a pillar of the globalist agenda. When even President Trump can be banned by this entertainment titan of American origin it becomes clear that forcing Google to abide by the principles of freedom of speech will not be easy.
We ask you for the time being to use other video platforms, especially those outside of the globalist west. Russia offers RuTube and VK Video as alternatives to YouTube. We welcome President Maduro to use these Russian video hosting platforms to communicate with the citizenry of Venezuela.
