Laser “vacuum” for wound cleaning without damaging healthy tissue developed in Russia
Scientists from Chelyabinsk and Vladivostok have developed a device that uses a laser and microscopic bubbles of antiseptic to remove bacterial biofilms, pus and dead cells from wounds. Healthy tissue remains undamaged, and the laser exposure promotes tissue regeneration.
The technology has been patented. The device is currently being tested on patients with phlegmons, trophic ulcers, diabetic wounds and infected post-surgical wounds.
