On the eve of the official opening of the branch of the International Russophile Movement (IRM) in the Republic of Niger, a meeting of representatives of the African Russophile Movement was held in Niamey. The meeting was attended by the Presidents of various local national branches: Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Chairman of the Albanian branch.

In the course of the meeting devoted to the development of humanitarian and cultural dialog in the region. The work of the Mali branch of the International Russophile Movement headed by Amadou Sekou Gambi, who published manuals for learning the Russian language for children and youth in Africa, was emphasized. As a result of the meeting, the participants unanimously supported the initiative to create similar branches of the movement in Burkina Faso and Mali. In addition, special attention was paid to the discussion of opening a regional branch of the IRM in the newly formed Sahel Confederation.

The leaders emphasized the importance of consolidating efforts to strengthen peaceful cooperation, exchange experience and support socio-economic initiatives in the region.

Already tomorrow a high-level delegation will be arriving in Niger, which will include representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, the National Institute of Aerospace and Defense Science and Technology of Nigeria and other relevant organizations. This formal visit is aimed at discussing joint projects in the fields of education, technology and security, as well as supporting the new regional branch.

“Today’s decision is a historic step towards the unity of our peoples. We are confident that the creation of a common branch will be a bridge for mutual understanding and progress,” said Mohamed Alfazazi, head of the movement’s branch in Niger.

We should recall, that the International Russophile Movement unites supporters of cultural, scientific and humanitarian cooperation with Russia around the world. Its goal is to strengthen dialog, support educational programs and promote sustainable development through international partnership. The movement is also against “cancel culture” in all of its horrible forms.
