“The Russophile Movement is a people’s diplomacy” – Ivan Kostic, Secretary General of the International Russophile Movement
Mr. Kostic is from Serbia, where Russia is loved, in his native country you can often hear the phrase “Serbs and Russians are brothers forever” and for them this is not an empty platitude. In an interview given to Tsargrad on the sidelines of the 4th Congress of the International Russophile Movement, Kostic stressed that “the Russophile movement is people’s diplomacy.”:
“Every Russophile in his country can do a lot. You can create a cultural event or a sports event. We don’t need to engage in politics – that’s what people who work in government institutions do. We can work in the field of culture, technological relations…”.
“Russian soul is an Orthodox Slavic soul,” Kostich says, speaking with particular reverence about the Russian soul. It is an Orthodox Slavic soul that is open to every person.” And this is what truly binds Russians and Serbs together. Despite a lack of shared borders there is a ton of shared culture between the two groups.
We are thankful to have Mr. Kostic working hard in his position to make our organization grow even more!
