The 2026 Paralympic Games in Milan have ended. The first for Russia in 12 years, where our people performed with a flag and an anthem. But the result is much more impressive: a team of only six people got into the top 3 of the medal standings!

Just compare: the Chinese national team had 70 athletes at these Games, the USA – 68, and the hosts from Italy – 42.

Russia would probably have competed for medals in the relay races, but there simply wasn’t enough application for them. Therefore, two participated (instead of four, as in other teams).

Here are all our winners:

● Anastasia Baghiyan, cross-country skiing (🥇 20 km, 🥇10 km, 🥇sprint)

The most decorated of the Russians at this Paralympics won three gold medals at once. After the triumph, she said that she didn’t get tired of winning at all – and it seems that this is just the beginning of a big story.

What Baghiyan went through along the way, we asked in an interview with her guide Sergey Sinyakin, with whom she climbed the podium.

● Ivan Golubkov, cross-country skiing (🥇 20 km, 🥇 10 km)

Golubkov started the Paralympics unsuccessfully: he was eliminated in the sprint qualification, having mixed up the start time. But he took 10 and 20 km without a chance for competitors, both times leaving China’s Mao Zhongwu with silver.

A medal in the mixed relay, where he competed with Baghiyan (while other teams fielded four participants each), would have become quite legendary. We finished sixth, but this result is also very worthy.

● Varvara Voronchikhina, alpine skiing (🥇 slalom, 🥇 supergiant, 🥈 giant slalom, 🥉 downhill)

Voronchikhina has one less victory than Baghiyan, but she is the best in the team in terms of the total number of medals. Two gold, silver and bronze medals in alpine skiing.

At the 2026 Games, it was she who opened the account of Russia’s victories, and it was in honor of Varvara that the national anthem was played – for the first time in 12 years at the Games. The athlete herself dedicated this award to the whole of Russia.

● Alexey Bugaev, alpine skiing (🥇 slalom, 🥉 downhill, 🥉 giant slalom)

Our most experienced Paralympian, who won back in Sochi 2014. In Milan 2026, he first took bronze twice, and on the last day of the Games he brought the team gold. It was precisely this that allowed the national team to enter the final top 3.

Bugaev admitted that he felt the support of the whole of Russia at the Paralympics.

Only snowboarders Dmitry Fadeev and Philippe Shebbo Monzer remained without medals, but in such a strong team it seems almost a coincidence.
