Russian Railways presented a new reserved seat with longer and wider shelves in the form of a mock-up at the Transport of Russia forum, a TASS correspondent reports.
The new model will increase the length and width of the sleeping places: the transverse shelves will become 14 cm longer and 3 cm wider, the dimensions of the side shelves will change by 10 cm and 4 cm, respectively.

“The future reserved car, made in ‘size T’, will be wider and longer than the existing reserved car. In addition, the length of the passenger compartment will increase. Due to this, there will be another compartment for 4 seats and the capacity of each car will increase from 54 to 58 seats,” the Russian Railways said.
Each berth will be equipped with individual curtains, tables for passengers on the upper and lower shelves, lamps and USB and 220 V sockets.

The new carriage will also have two sanitary rooms and a separate shower room.
“Commissioning will take place after receiving certificates of conformity. The new model wagons will run in the most sought-after destinations,” the holding said.
