Meeting of the Scientific and Expert Council of the World Assembly of Peoples in Addis Ababa: shared values for the future of humanity

On July 29, 2026, a meeting of the Scientific and Expert Council of the World Assembly of Peoples was held in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, dedicated to the theme “Common values for the future of humanity.” The event was held within the framework of the regional World Public Summit “New World: Africa in shaping a common Future”, organized by the World Assembly of Peoples in cooperation with the Global Center for History, Heritage and Education of the Peoples of Africa and African Descent (Global Black History, Heritage and Education Center).

Today, Ethiopia is rightfully considered one of the leading political, diplomatic and economic centers of East Africa. The country is consistently strengthening its position in the field of international public diplomacy and humanitarian cooperation. Addis Ababa, where the headquarters of the African Union is located, plays a key unifying role in developing a pan-African position on the most important issues on the global agenda.

The meeting was a continuation of the implementation of global humanitarian initiatives adopted at the First World Public Assembly in September 2025. The participants discussed the main challenges of our time and stressed the need to consolidate the international scientific and expert community to develop and implement joint projects aimed at sustainable and harmonious development.

The meeting was led by Alexander Ivanovich Ageev, Chairman of the Scientific and Expert Council of the World Assembly of Peoples, Director General of the International Research Institute for Management Problems and a member of the Club of Rome.

The event was attended by more than forty representatives of the scientific, academic and expert community from Cuba, Ethiopia, South Africa, Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other African countries.
The main presentations were made by:

Fidel Antonio Castro-Smirnov (Cuba) — Academician of the Cuban Academy of Sciences, Professor at the University of Havana;
Suleiman Anta Ndiaye (Senegal) — Chairman of the Executive Bureau of the International Russophile Movement (MDR/MDR) and President of the African Renaissance Forum (FORA);

Hedi Ben Salah (Tunis), President of the Tunisian Association of Graduates of Soviet Universities;

Nyaka Lagoke (Ivory Coast) is a Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of History and Pan-African Studies at Lincoln University.;

Tsegae Chama (South Africa) — Secretary General of the Global Center for African Peoples and African Descent;

Nakedi Mbamba (South Africa) is a Senior Advisor to the Secretariat of the Global Center, a writer, publicist, ideologue and advocate of building a just world.;

Gakuru Macharia (Great Britain) is a journalist, researcher, founder of the scientific journal Kidney Research in Kenya and East Africa, author of numerous publications on African culture, heritage, and clinical biomedicine.;

Jean-Jacques Lukusa (Democratic Republic of the Congo) — Vice-President of the Lembe Sports Club Union.

The participants focused on issues of geopolitics, economics, ecology, sustainable development, humanitarian cooperation and the promotion of universal values that can strengthen the unity of humanity.

Summing up the meeting, Alexander Ageev noted that the discussion focused on the role of spiritual, moral and cultural values in shaping the common future of humanity, preserving the African heritage, protecting the sovereignty of developing countries, as well as such important issues as food security, the development of digital ecosystems, environmental protection and unlocking the potential of youth.
The participants also reviewed 17 global initiatives of the Scientific Expert Council of the World Assembly of Peoples and a number of ongoing projects that can be expanded and adapted to the conditions of the African continent.

The meeting in Addis Ababa confirmed the desire of representatives of the scientific and expert community to strengthen international dialogue and develop cooperation based on mutual respect, solidarity of peoples and joint search for effective solutions to the global challenges of the 21st century.
