Sanctions? Arab fund looking to make major Soccer investments in Russia

Vadim Andreev, President of the Eurasian direction of No Limits Sports, explained why the fund is interested in acquiring the Volgograd Rotor Football Club. Earlier, insider Ivan Karpov reported that No Limits Sports could acquire three clubs in Russia, one of which is Rotor.

“The interest of the Arab No Limits Sports Foundation in the Rotor football club is due to a set of strategic factors that make this project unique and promising for investment. Firstly, Rotor is a club with a rich history and strong regional support, which creates a solid foundation for the development of both sports and commercial components. Volgograd is a southern region with an active and dedicated fan base, as well as a modern infrastructure inherited from the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Secondly, Rotor has an attractive infrastructure and its own academy, as well as a number of commercial football schools in the region, with which it is possible to build effective partnerships. Together, we can develop local talented football players, creating a full-fledged ecosystem of personnel training. All this can be implemented in the format of a hybrid public-private partnership, which will maximize the use of regional resources, reduce capital costs and accelerate the club’s development process. We see this project as an example of successful cooperation between sports, business and government.

In addition, Rotor plays in the RPL/FNL segment, where competition is high, but at the same time the club has significant potential to improve sports performance and commercial attractiveness. This creates opportunities not only for a return on investment, but also for a significant increase in the value of the asset in the medium term. As for the timing, we are currently at the stage of an in-depth analysis of the club and the situation in the region. It is too early to talk before the start of real negotiations with regional authorities and key stakeholders. With a favorable development of events, legal and financial procedures can be completed within 6-12 months, meaning the transaction may well take place next year. However, much depends on the speed of agreeing on all the conditions and the willingness of the parties to cooperate,” TASS quoted Andreev as saying.
