“African culture is very important. I think some of our speakers today did mention the criticalness of understanding the people-to-people engagement. <…> You can’t be sovereign, you can’t be independent if your culture is not something that you put forward. If we understand the soft power that lies within the cultural currency, which is our arts, our culture, the way we are, then it would be easier for us to start self-determining and saying to the world who we are.”

“Africa is the breadbasket of the world. We supply all natural resources to the world, especially in the West. They have power and influence through our natural resources. So Africa should be treated as one of the key contributors of the global economy. But in the past, we’ve seen, Africans were treated as slaves, they were treated as people that needed to be given aid, meaning 1% of everything that they take out needs to be given back to Africa. <…> So it’s very critical for Russia to be able to lead this multipolarism.”
