A rally against the anti-Russian policies of the European Union was held in Nicosia, Cyprus just before the start of the official ceremony of the beginning of the presidency of Cyprus in the Council of the EU reports a TASS correspondent.

The rally was organized by the International Russophile Movement and other supporters of the restoration of full-fledged relations between Cyprus and the Russian Federation. They are advocating for EU non-interference in Nicosia’s relations with Moscow and for abandoning the policy of military support for Ukraine.

The participants held banners with slogans such as “Stop sanctions against Russia,” “Russophobia exists only in a sick mind,” “We love the Russian language and culture,” “Direct flights Cyprus – Russia right now,” “Zelensky is an overdue president,” “Sandu is a fake president,” and others. The two politicians were mentioned for the reason that they are in Nicosia, as guests of the ceremony of the beginning of the Cypriot presidency.

“The international Russophile movement and friends of Russia gathered here today, on the day of the beginning of Cyprus’ presidency of the Council of the European Union, to express our opinion and our position in favor of peace, so that there would be no arms race, so that all the money would go to healthcare, education, pensions, and not to war and the purchase of weapons.. We also call for the resumption of both full-fledged relations between Cyprus and Russia, as well as flights between the two countries, and for Cyprus to continue to welcome Russian tourists with pleasure. We do not need sanctions that do not help anyone, and that is why we are here today and have written many slogans on this issue, and we want to demonstrate them to the Cypriots and the whole world.

The participants of the rally lined up at one of the central intersections of the Cypriot capital with Russian tricolours and Orthodox banners in their hands, not far from the building of the Cyprus Theater Organization, where the already mentioned official ceremony began. At that time, motorcades with flashing lights were passing by the activists, transporting senior representatives of the European Union leadership.
