Last week, a video with an incident that occurred during a match of the Ukrainian Football Media League became popular on social networks. The focus was on the game between the Ultimate (Kiev) and Armat (Dnipro) teams. With the score 3-2 in favor of the Dnipro team, the chief referee showed a blue card to Ultimate player Sergey Donets. Because of this, the athlete left the field for five minutes.
The new rules of the Media League in Ukraine have introduced additional punishment for football players: now referees can show a blue card along with the traditional yellow and red ones. They provide for a temporary removal from the field for five minutes without the possibility of substitution. The blue card will be punished primarily for using the Russian language. According to Ukrainian media, Donets became the first player in the history of the Media League to receive such punishment for speaking Russian.
As a result, the match ended with the victory of the Kiev club with a score of 5:3, Sport24 reports.
Last year, the Odessa authorities agreed to change the name of the Pushkin Sycamore tree, which is located near the monument to the Russian hero Alexander Pushkin. The city administration motivated its decision by the fact that the tree was on the list of objects that allegedly reflect a certain Russian imperial spirit and aggressive policy.
