Hyundai, a South Korean company that left Russia in 2022, has registered the Hyundai BlueDrive trademark in Russia, a TASS correspondent has found out.
The BlueDrive trademark is registered in the 12th class of the International Classification of Goods and Services (ICTS), which includes trucks and passenger cars, vans, buses, as well as parts and accessories for them, including engines. The trademark was registered in mid-March 2026, and its expiration date in Russia is July 2034.
Earlier, the head of Rospatent, Yuri Zubov, said in an interview with TASS that well-known foreign brands are trying to ensure both registration and extension of their trademarks in Russia. According to him, a trademark is registered to protect against counterfeiting, so that no one sells goods under the guise of the copyright holder’s products. The copyright holder, in turn, is interested in preserving the brand’s reputation, even if the market, in this case the Russian one, is temporarily unavailable to him.
In March 2025, The Korea Times reported that major South Korean corporations, including Hyundai Motor, LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics, are exploring the possibility of returning to the Russian market in the event of a settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions. As the newspaper noted, Russia is an important market with a pronounced preference for Korean goods and serves as a hub between Central Asia and Europe.
