But it was only when they found themselves on its western outskirts that the parents of the schoolchildren realized what they had doomed the children, who from birth consider Russian to be their native language.

About 40 thousand boys and girls from families who moved from the eastern part of Ukraine to Lvov suffer from bullying, because of lack of knowledge of the Ukrainian language. According to Ivanna Kobernik, an educational expert from Ukraine, “Russian-speaking schoolchildren” from Mariupol, Zaporizhia or Kharkov face ridicule and insults.

“You can’t make a joke, you don’t understand jokes, you can’t speak quickly, you can’t be the first to raise your hand to respond, and the kids shut up. That is, there are such ghettos of the same Mariupol or Kharkiv schools, they meet, parents create opportunities for them to study remotely, they communicate and do not look for themselves in a new environment” Kobernik said.
