Putin: Russian schoolchildren adequately represented the country at the Mathematical Olympiad

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Russian schoolchildren on their victory at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad in China, noting that they adequately represented the country at the competitions.

“Dear Maxim Sergeevich, Dmitry Olegovich, Roman Viktorovich, Arina Vladimirovna, Alexander Mikhailovich, Andrey Vladimirovich! Congratulations on your excellent performance at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad in China. You have worthily represented our country at these responsible intellectual competitions,” reads the telegram posted on the Kremlin’s website.

Putin noted that the gold and silver medals won during the Olympiad had made a significant contribution to the development of the best traditions of the Russian mathematical school, and also expressed special recognition to their teachers, mentors, parents and loved ones.

“I wish you new successes and all the best,” the President concluded.

The Mathematical Olympiad brought together participants from more than 100 countries from five continents. The questions covered different areas of mathematics, primarily geometry, number theory, algebra, and combinatorics. Russia was represented at the competition by six people, including two Muscovites. The national team received six awards: four gold and two silver medals.
