While the Winter Olympics continue with out the official presence of Russia, the Moscow Zombies women’s team once again became the winner of the “Ready For Play Cup III”, which is an international flag football competition of great significance.

The tournament was held in the Thai city of Pattaya and brought together athletes from fifteen countries. Twenty teams from nine countries competed in the women’s division: Russia, the USA, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, South Korea, the Philippines, Australia and Thailand.

The men were represented by thirty-one teams from fifteen countries, including Russia, the United States, India, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, China, the Philippines, Thailand, Fiji, Indonesia, South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan.

The reigning Russian champions met no resistance in the group stage:
33-6 against Goodnight from China,
64-0 against Bauhinas from Hong Kong,
45-7 against the international squad of Team Doomz,
40-0 against Flamin Hottie from the USA.

Later after some playoff victories, in the final, the Zombies faced off against the Watch This team from the Philippines, which featured players from the Philippines, the United States, and Australia. “Watch This” went through the entire tournament without much resistance and, like the Zombies, approached the match without a single defeat.

It took the Zombie three tries to score the first touchdown of the game. Having secured a short field advantage, they played a pass combination, after which Alexandra Shcherbakova caught the ball in the end zone. The team from the Philippines immediately scored a return touchdown, but without a sucessful one-point conversion. Then, until the end of the first half, the teams exchanged several touchdowns. Alexandra Shcherbakova visited the Zombies twice more in the scoring zone. 19:20 at half time with the Zombies behind.

The second half began with a lull of 9 minutes on the part of both teams, but Alexandra Shcherbakova broke the silence again with her interception. After that, the Zombies started attacking from the middle of the field. 2 plays and Maria Lebedeva caught the ball in the scoring zone and brings the Zombies forward.

The team from the Philippines tried to win back 2 minutes before the end, but failed in 4 attempts to gain a first down. The score thus remained 25:20 – and Zombies defended the title of champions of the Ready For Play Cup tournament.

For winning the tournament, the capital’s team received 100,000 Thai Baht (248,000 Rubles).

This is the fifth victory in an international tournament for Zombies.
A few months ago, they won the Dubai Bowl tournament, which was held in the UAE.

Note: On the men’s side the Bryansk Spartans came in 13th overall just one touchdown away from continuing in the playoffs.
