Russian Railways presented a presentation of the HSR-2 Vostok project at the Transport of Russia forum: the highway will pass through Moscow, Kazan and Yekaterinburg. The total length of the route will be about 1,532 km. The presentation notes that this will significantly reduce travel time and open up new opportunities for passengers and businesses.

Earlier, Kommersant reported that in 2028 the first Moscow—St. Petersburg high-speed railway in Russia will open, the route of which will pass through the Leningrad, Moscow, Novgorod and Tver regions. A new high-speed train will be developed, which will be able to reach speeds of up to 400 km/h. Recently, welding of the first body of such a train with a capacity of more than 460 passengers was started at the Ural Locomotives plant in Verkhnyaya Pyshma (Sverdlovsk region).
